Bihar polls: BJP plotting to split Yadav votes, says Lalu Prasad

Over the past few weeks, the RJD chief had mostly invoked Mandalraj II, while raising the pitch over Centre withholding the release of caste-census data.

This was the first time he red-flagged BJP’s “attempts to create confusion” among RJD supporters and the PM’s bid to woo Yadav voters.
He also asked his supporters to turn up in huge numbers at the Swabhiman Rally in Patna on August 30.

The RJD chief’s appeal to his supporters came even as party’s senior leader and former Union minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh took dig at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for not putting up common hoardings of the alliance. “We had given JD(U) the CM candidate, but had expected to contest more of seats than the party….There is not a single common alliance hoarding put up even as a matter of solidarity,” Singh, who has been most vocal in asserting RJD’s position, said.

He asked party workers to demonstrate RJD’s strength by “filling Gandhi Maidan with lanterns (RJD’s election symbol)”.

Meanwhile, defending his entry into politics, Lalu Prasad’s youngest son — Tejashwi Prasad Yadav — said: “Former CM Bhagwat Jha Azad’s son Kirti Azad joined politics, so did another ex-CM Jagannath Mshra’s son Nitish Mishra. But BJP has been accusing RJD of promoting dynasty in politics.”
