ZP workers plan stir

NAGPUR, MARCH 18: The Zilla Parishad workers in the State would start an indefinite agitation in front of the Vidhan Bhavan, Mumbai, from March 23 to press their various demands. The decision to this effect was taken at a joint meeting of the Zilla Parishad Kamgaar Mahamandal and Raste Imarati Kamgaar Mahamandal, held recently.

Thousands of workers of the 29 ZP8217;s of the State, PWD department, Irrigation Department and Water Supply Department, would participate in the indefinite dharna. The number of employees from the Nagpur ZP, to participate in the agitation is about 300 and would include daily wages workers of ZP, drivers, daily wages clerks and technical workers.

The main grievance of the workers is that no daily wages workers in the ZP8217;s have been made permanent since 1990.
