
CHANDIGARH, June 9: Issuing notice on the suit for declaring the termination of dealership of Modern Complex Cable Network by EL Zee Television Private Limited as quot;null and voidquot;, UT Civil Judge Junior Division Paramvir Nijjar has also directed quot;the parties to maintain status quo regarding the transmission of signal of Zee Cinema till September 7quot;.
Pronouncing the orders in the open court, the Civil Judge observed: quot;Notice of the suit as well as of the stay application be given to the defendents for September 7. Finding a prima facie case at this stage in favour of the applicant-plaintiffs, the parties are directed to maintain status quo regarding the transmission8230;..quot; Earlier, in their petition, Modern Complex Cable Network and Deepak Tondon of Mani Majra stated that the letter received by them on June 4 was quot;illegal, contrary to the legal and factual position, having no force of lawquot;.
Directions to restrain the defendants from quot;directly or indirectly interfering into the dealership and working of the Zee Cinema contracts from its Chandigarh officequot; were also sought.
Giving details of the case, the plaintiffs had stated that the letter was illegal as according to the agreement 30 days notice has to be given by either side for terminating the contract.
Claiming the order to have been issued quot;with malafide intentionsquot;, the counsel for the plaintiffs had added that the injury threatened to be caused quot;by the way of closure of the transmitting of the Zee Cinema signal from the satellite was of irreparable naturequot;.
