KHARAR, Nov 30: Pancham Chand, a worker at the wine shop situated at Chadiala village, about eight km from here, was injured when two scooter-borne unidentified persons opened fire on him last evening.

According to police sources, two unidentified persons came to the wine shop on a scooter and demanded cash from the workers at the wine shop.

Pancham Chand turned down their demand saying that the contractor had taken away the cash. When he shouted at Jeet Singh, who was also present at the wine shop, for help, the attackers fired a shot at him and fled away from the scene without taking any cash or anything else.

Sources further said that Pancham Chand was rushed to the PGI, Chandigarh, for treatment where he was reported to be out of danger. He sustained fire shot injury on his arm. The attackers used a .12 bore country-made pistol for firing, police added.

The Sohana police have registered a case under Sections 307/34 of the Indian Penal Code and 25/54/59 of the Arms Act in this connection and have started further investigations into the case.
