After it was all over, Rahul Dravid was asked, 8216;8216;What8217;s next?8217;8217;. He replied, with rare levity, 8216;8216;We8217;re partying tonight.8217;8217;

That was the mood not just in the Indian camp but all over the stadium this evening. As the crowd chanted their praises of 8216;8216;Team India8217;8217; and 8216;8216;Men in Blue8217;8217;, the objects of their devotion were celebrating, and planning some more.

Tough to believe that just six weeks ago they were a dishevelled, fractious, deeply demoralised lot, at odds with each other and with the world at large. There8217;s an openness, a glasnost though not over the No 3 slot which has lifted the mood and brought out the smiles.

The opposition appeared equally in awe, and appreciation, of their all-conquering hosts. 8216;8216;Beware this Indian team, they are beginning to look ahead once again,8217;8217; former Sri Lanka captain Arjuna Ranatunga said.

His compatriots Muttiah Muralitharan and Sanath Jayasuriya were walking back to the pavilion after the match, the crowds cheers ringing in their ears, when they stooped. And Murali said, to no one in particular, 8216;8216;Cheer them the Indian team, they8217;ve played excellent cricket.8217;8217;
