MUMBAI, November 17: Speedy Wellingdon YMCA beat Thane Gymkhana 41-37 in the inaugural match of the 10th Bombay YMCA (junior) basketball tournament organised by YMCA, Ghatkopar, today.
Shaikh Rafique top scored with 14 points while Ansari Safiullah and Ansari Ashraf caged 10 each. The teams were tied at 16-16 at half-time.
In the second match of the day, Shree Samarth Vyayam Mandir routed Mahatma Sports Club (Chembur), 42-18. Alhad M scored 30 points for the winners.

Rebels drub Challengers
0Sanjay Fernandes and Warren Carvalho struck twice each as Rebels snuffed out the challenge of Young Challengers in the Bombay Provincial championships at the Mahindra stadium today.
Fernandes opened in the 29th minute off a cross from Gilroy D’Mello to take the 1-0 score into half-time. Fernandes’ saw success again when, in the 56th minute, his goal-bound scoop was stopped by Challengers’ Sanjay Sharma with his hand. The resultant stroke was converted by Fernandes.
Team-mate Carvalho got into the act by tapping in Harold Rodricks’ cross from the right in the 50th minute and then capitalised on Karl Lopez’s spade work a minute before close.
