We146;ll be back, says Ponting

Virtually conceding that the days of their absolute domination are over, Australia captain Ricky Ponting Tuesday said it would take a few years before the side returns as the same ruthless force which has ruled world cricket for over a decade.

8220;We8217;ve had an amazing run as a team . We have dominated world cricket for a long period of time,8221; Ponting said after his side went down to South Africa in the second Test.

8220;I8217;m still very positive and very sure that with some of these younger guys coming on, in a few years time we can get back up there. It8217;s going to take a little while, there is no doubt about that. You can not expect young guys to come in and sustain success,8221; Ponting said.

8220;The gap between our best and our worst cricket has been too big and we have to make that smaller if we want to win the next Test and if we want to stay in the top group of Test-playing nations,8221; added Ponting.

He admitted it was a strange feeling for some of the players who are used to wins but felt there was no reason to press the panic button. 8220;A lot of players in the team aren8217;t accustomed to losing Test matches, let alone Test series. We8217;ve got to remain upbeat. There8217;s no time for panic or as chief selector Andrew Hilditch said, chop and change,8221; Ponting said.
