A final year engineering student of Osmania University committed suicide Saturday morning near his hostel. His friends told police that B Srinivas Naik was upset that he and his friends were not allowed to go out of the campus on Friday to participate in the Chalo Assembly programme.
Naik, who hailed from Amangal village in Mahbubnagar district, left two suicide notes in his pockets. In one note he claimed that he was taking the extreme step as he was upset that Telangana state was not being formed. In the other he requested Telangana leaders to take care of his parents. On Friday,he had participated in the protests on the campus along with his friends.
Tension prevailed on the campus after Naik was discovered hanging from tree near the main library. His friends have no clue when he left the hostel and went out. It must be very late in the night as he was with them till midnight, said Inspector B Srinivas of Osmania University Police Station.
Meanwhile, the bandh called by the TRS for alleged police brutality during Fridays protest evoked partial response with most commercial establishments and offices operating as usual.
