Swati Sen,who plays the lead in the critically-acclaimed Antardwand is looking forward to having an exciting journey in Bollywood.
Launch Vehicle
I play Janaki,a girl whose father makes all the decisions for her. Right from childhood, her father has been the most important person in her life and she has to abide by his decisions. She even decides to get married to the man her father chooses for her without the slightest hesitation. After a few months, she realises she is stuck in a bad marriage and decides to walk out, paying no heed to her parents.
Casting Coup
It was purely by chance that I bagged the role. I am a student of FTII and during my final year,I was just heading to the canteen when the casting director of the film,Shruti, spotted me. She asked me if I would be interested in playing this role. I was ecstatic and after an audition,I was selected for the role.
Stepping-Stone
I am a Bengali from Bihar and I did my schooling there. I did my graduation from Delhi and that is when I got involved with theatre. Shortly after that,I came to Pune to join FTII and that is where I bagged the offer.
First Shot
I was a little nervous on the first day,but that eventually changed when I got used to the camera. It was good fun and nobody made me feel like I was a newcomer. Initially,Imtiaz Ali was supposed to be a part of the film but later Raj Singh Choudhary replaced him. Raj and I got along really well and it was a great experience in all.
Stumbling-Block
Thankfully due to the grace of God,I haven8217;t had to face any unpleasant situations. I am blessed to have understanding parents who stood by me throughout, making sure that I faced no problems. I will always be thankful to my training at FTII. I am what I am today because of it.
Lessons Learnt
I have learnt that the film industry is a good place to work. It sure does have its flaws but everyone here puts in a lot of hardwork. Behind all that glitz and glamour is a world with people who work just as hard as anyone else would do in a corporate setup. I am really happy to be a part of the industry.
Matinee Idol
I have always looked up to Smita Patil. She was absolutely beautiful and her acting was flawless. I am very fond of her and would love to do meaningful cinema. I am also a huge fan of Kay Kay Menon. Being cast opposite him would be a dream come true for me.
Future Projects
I am taking things slow. People have appreciated my performance in the film and I want to live up to that expectation. I am reading a few scripts but nothing has been finalised so far.
