SP targets Cong, but will stick with UPA

It criticised various schemes of UPA like mid-day meal,MNREGA and food security Bill.

Despite passing a stinging resolution at its national executive meeting in Agra against the Congress, the Samajwadi Party maintained its previous stand of extending issue-based support to the Congress-led UPA government Thursday.

We are not supporting Congress but are extending issue-based support. We will continue with it, Mulayam said after the resolution was passed. There are times when such Bills come in Parliament for which we need to support the Congress. Even the BJP supports many Bills,it will continue but we are not supporting Congress in any way.

The SP has 22 members in the Lok Sabha and nine members in the Rajya Sabha.

On the other hand, the national executive meet of the SP passed a resolution condemning the policies and actions of the UPA government. The resolution, which blamed the Congress for the poor economy and weak foreign policy, was tabled by Ramgopal Yadav and supported by Naresh Aggrawal. It criticised various schemes of UPA like mid-day meal,MNREGA and food security Bill.
