Pepper,jeera fall on subdued demand

Jeera common and jeera best quality traded lower at Rs 14,600-14,800 and Rs 17,600-18,100.

Black pepper and jeera prices fell up to Rs 500 per quintal in the national capital today, largely due to weak local and export demand at existing higher levels amid adequate stocks position following increased arrivals.

Black pepper prices tumbled by Rs 500 to settle at Rs 31,800-32,900 per quintal due to lower demand amid hopes of a pick-up in arrivals by month-end.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also traded lower at Rs 14,600-14,800 and Rs 17,600-18,100 against previous closing of Rs 14,700-14,900 and Rs 17,700-18,200 per quintal.

Marketmen said reduced export as well as local demand at existing higher prices mainly pulled down the pepper and jeera prices at the wholesale kirana market here.
