India issues travel advisory for Iran, advises to avoid non-essential travel amid protests

The Ministry of External Affairs, in a notification stated, "In view of recent developments, Indian nationals are advised to avoid non-essential travel to the Islamic Republic of Iran until further notice."

India has issued travel advisory for Iran and advised Indian citizens and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) currently in the Islamic Republic to exercise due caution amid widespread protests in the country.

The Ministry of External Affairs, in a notification stated, “In view of recent developments, Indian nationals are advised to avoid non-essential travel to the Islamic Republic of Iran until further notice.”

The MEA advisory further stated that Indian citizens and PIOs, who are currently in Iran, should avoid areas of protests or demonstrations, exercise due caution and and closely monitor news as well as the website and social media handles of the Embassy of India in Tehran.

The advisory stated, “Indian nationals living in Iran on resident-visas are advised to register with the Indian Embassy, if not already done so.”
