True India is all about villages, says the 25-year-old. Theres no glamour in rural areas but no experience teaches you more about life than spending time there.
It is in villages that Jaivardhan Singh, son of Congress veteran Digvijaya Singh, has taken his first political step. On Wednesday he set out on a weeklong padyatra that will include night halts and dinners at Dalit and tribal houses in Madhya Pradeshs Raghogarh constituency.
I am not going by anyones caste, only their poverty levels, he says, insisting he wants to connect with villagers to understand their problems. By the second day itself,Singh Junior was flooded with complaints, and he was quick to blame the state government.
While flagging off his sons career,Singh Senior told the crowd that he and the sitting MLA from Raghogarh had become old and they would have to make way for the youth. The veteran leader, however, denies that his son is a contender for 2013 elections. He leaves it to the party to decide.
