NHPC in talks to tap Arunachals hydropower

In a move aimed at progressively harnessing the hydropower potential of Arunachal Pradesh,state-owned NHPCs chairman and managing director ABL Srivastava held a meeting with Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Nabam Tuki and other state representatives here on June 28.

In a move aimed at progressively harnessing the hydropower potential of Arunachal Pradesh,state-owned NHPCs chairman and managing director ABL Srivastava held a meeting with Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Nabam Tuki and other state representatives here on June 28.

During the meeting,a presentation on NHPCs ongoing hydropower projects was given. The delegation was also apprised of issues regarding the accord of the first stage forest clearance of Tawang-I and Tawang-II projects and conducting of public hearing for the Dibang project. According to a NHPC statement,the chief minister stated that the matter regarding forest clearance of Tawang-I and Tawang-II has already been taken up at appropriate level in the Ministry of Environment. He also assured the company that the public hearing for Dibang project shall be conducted shortly.
