Mini Cooper, bank account of international narco kingpin frozen by NCB

In an effort towards dismantling the illicit financial supply of drug networks, the office of the Competent Authority last week confirmed an order issued by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai for freezing a Mini Cooper car and a bank account of alleged international drug kingpin Navin Chichkar. The value of frozen properties is Rs 41,64 lakh.
In January 2021, the NCB intercepted three accused in Navi Mumbai and seized multiple types of drugs like cocaine and LSD in commercial quantities and ganja. The NCB said the contraband was being sold in the Belapur and Nerul areas of Navi Mumbai.
Subsequent investigation identified the accused Navin Gurunath Chichkar of CBD Belapur, Navi Mumbai, as the kingpin operating the international and interstate drug syndicate, an official said. Eventually, in August 2025, Chichkar was deported from Malaysia and arrested by the NCB Mumbai. He is currently in judicial custody.
A financial investigation to trace assets acquired with proceeds from illicit drug sales led the NCB to identify one bank account at City Bank and one luxurious Mini Cooper, both of which were frozen in November 2025 and confirmed by the Competent Authority last week, an official said.
The official said Chichkar is a habitual offender and a notorious drug trafficker in Navi Mumbai. He has five Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act cases against him, three by the NCB Mumbai, one by the Nerul police station and one by the Customs.
At the time of his deportation from Malaysia, an official from the Navi Mumbai police said, “We sought Chinchkar’s custody from the court that remanded him to our custody till Monday. Along with Chinchkar, another accused P Pandey, one of his main suppliers too has been remanded to our custody.”
The official said that Chinchkar had a well-oiled international network and had, in the past, allegedly smuggled cocaine bricks to India after procuring them from Colombian cartels.
