Sharmila asks Anna to get her freed

Guwahati: Irom Chanu Sharmila,who has been on a fast for nearly 11 years now demanding the repeal of AFSPA,has expressed solidarity to Anna Hazares campaign,but not before asking him to get her released from detention. Sharmila,who had been sent an invitation by Team Anna to join the rally in Delhi,sent a team of representatives to Delhi but expressed her inability to go there. Instead,she asked Anna and his team to come to Imphal and join her. She requested Anna to try and get her released,so that she could be free to join the amazing crusade that he had launched.

Modi minister flip-flop: With Anna

GANDHINAGAR: Less than 24 hours after he blasted Anna Hazares movement,Dilip Sanghani,Gujarat Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister,did a U-turn,pledging support to the activist. Sanghani had lambasted Hazares agitation,while CM Narendra Modi himself was busy endorsing Hazare on Twitter and Facebook. On Wednesday,he said,Like Mahatma Gandhi once said,consider my last statement as my final word,so forget whatever I said yesterday and consider what I am saying today. I am with my party and fully support Anna Hazares Jan Lokpal Bill.

Gujarat panel to study Bill

GANDHINAGAR: Facing the High Courts ire for not appointing a Lokayukta in the state for more than seven years now,the Gujarat government on Wednesday announced it would appoint a high-level ministerial committee to study the Anna Hazares Jan Lokpal Bill,and if it is accepted by Parliament,change the state Lokayukta Act accordingly. The government said the panel will suggest amendments to the existing Lokayukt Act.

Fasting activist on drip

Ahmedabad: Social activist Chandrakant Barot,who is on an indefinite fast since August 16 in solidarity with Anna Hazare,was put on saline drip after his condition deteriorated on Tuesday. However,a supporter,Jan Lokpal Andolan Samiti coordinator Sanjay Joshi,alleged that the administration was slow in providing the medical facilities.
