Man suspended for sharing Facebook post on Kerala scam

Wilting under the solar panel scam, the Congress government in Kerala Saturday suspended an office attendant on charges of sharing a news

Wilting under the solar panel scam, the Congress government in Kerala Saturday suspended an office attendant on charges of sharing a news item that criticised the state government on the solar fraud in the Facebook.

Premanand Thekkekara,an active member of the pro-Left Secretariat Employees Association, said the general administration department suspended him without hearing his side. He said he did not remember which news on the solar scam he had shared, inviting the suspension.

Meanwhile,Chief Minister Oommen Chandy was left high and dry in the solar controversy after the arrest of his former aide Tenni Joppen for a cheating case. Joppen was remanded in judicial custody.

Although the BJP and CPM have stepped up their attacks on Chandy,no senior Congress leader has come to his rescue. Party state president Ramesh Chennithala said the party would not protect those who have committed the crime. The involvement of the CMs staff in the scam stemmed from the freedom the ministers enjoyed in appointing their staff. Hence, the party plans to intervene in the posting of the ministers personal staff,he said.
