Through a video-conference arranged from Indian Consulate in Berlin, the victim had identified Ansari. “She gave a very strong evidence,” said special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam.

DNA samples collected from the spot and on the victim matched that of Ansari’s. According to the prosecution,

Ansari held the victim hostage at knife point, raped her and indulged in unnatural offences. The victim managed to run to the bathroom and lock herself inside. She then raised alarm and sought help from neighbours. Stating that Ansari had violated a foreign national and brought a bad name to the country, the sessions judge gave him the maximum punishment.
