Among the throng of anxious relatives at Dehraduns Jolly Grant airport Wednesday was a young man,begging the son of the chief minister of Uttarakhand for help.

The man,who gave his name as Mukesh and said he was from UPs Saharanpur district,told Saket,the son of Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna,that his father was dead,and his mother was sitting with his body at a relief camp near Joshimath.

I want to somehow get to my mother. She is all alone and in shock. I have requested Saketji to send me by any helicopter that might be flying to the Sahasradhara helipad, Mukesh said.

The BSNL mobile phone of his mother,Savita,was working,and he had spoken to her,Mukesh said. He said he had heard of his fathers death on Tuesday morning.
