The 40th edition of the International Film Festival of India IFFI,which is slated to begin on November 23 in Goa,had run into rough weather with allegations that the list of films selected in a particular section was leaked by a jury member.
On Monday, however,Director,Directorate of Film Festivals,S M Khan sought to clear the air in this regard during a press meet called to announce the schedule of the festival.
The issue is resolved now. We have sent a formal communication to the jury member who allegedly leaked the results of selected films from the Indian Panorama section on a website before the official announcement was made. If the charge is proved, then that would be unethical on the part of the jury member, said Khan.
A private website had last month carried information about the films selected in the Indian Panorama section under the name of jury member Gautam Bhaskaran even before the Information and Broadcasting Ministry had made a formal announcement.
The festival, which will conclude on December 3,will have seven films in the Indian Premier Section Anant Mahadevans Red Alert: The War Within,Amol Palekars Once Again and Tapan Acharyas Konkani film Janam.
There are 26 films in the feature category of the Indian Panorama section with 21 in the non-feature category. Out of these, two films from the feature category Bengali film Angashumaner Chhobi by Atanu Ghosh and Marathi film Gabhrjcha Paus by Satish Anwar have made it to the international competition section also. There are at least 13 films in the competition section with focus countries being Croatia,Estonia and France.
This years festival will also see many firsts from a retrospective of Indian animation films to a section on spoof films focusing on the Malegaon film industry.
