Chief Minister Rekha Gupta while addressing a BJP workers meeting in Northwest Delhi’s Rohini on Saturday said that her government is trying to revive the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) even as its losses have risen to Rs 97, 000 crore. Addressing the workers, she said the DTC’s revenue loss is as high as the Budget of Delhi. The budget of Delhi is Rs 1 lakh crore, she said.
Accusing the previous AAP government of collapsing the public transportation system in the last 10 years, Gupta said, “They handed over the entire operations of DTC to Delhi Integrated Multi Modal Transit System (DIMTS) including running buses, finalising routes and hire staff…they threw the DTC into crisis and forced DTC drivers and conductors to sit idle.”
She also said that the bus operations have been taken away from the DIMTS and now the DTC will operate them, she said.
