Even as the modalities for initiating peace talks with the outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom ULFA are yet to be finalized,the Centre has named former Intelligence Bureau chief PC Haldar as the interlocutor between the government and ULFA ,official sources said on Wednesday night.
Gogoi told Chidambaram that ever since the Centre gave the go-ahead,the peace process with ULFA has been moving in the right direction,with the state cabinet deciding to start talks with the outfit.
Gogoi had on Sunday said that the top leadership of the ULFA had already given him definite messages that the outfit was ready to talk. The leaders who are inside jails have sent me a definite message that they are willing to sit for talks. It the talks has to be naturally within the parameters of the Constitution of India Gogoi had said on Sunday.
