Even as the Rajasthan government still grapples with the Bhanwari Devi episode, which has already cost minister Mahipal Maderna his job, another scandal is set to rock the state, this time spelling trouble for the opposition BJP. The Jaipur police on Tuesday registered an FIR alleging rape and wrongful confinement against 17 persons, including a former BJP MP,a minister from an earlier BJP government,a former students union leader and a couple of police officers.
The FIR was based on a complaint filed by a 17-year-old woman from Haryana.
According to the womans complaint, her husband Om Prakash Godara forced her into prostitution soon after their marriage in December 2010. The Jaipur police said the FIR was registered following directions from a local court the woman had approached.

She said,I asked him why he was forcing me to do all this and he said I was mistaken about being his wife and that I was only a means of making money. He even filmed me in compromising positions with others and blackmailed me for money.
She added that Godara had registered a case against her family and her in Hanumangarh in an attempt to force the family to pay more dowry.
The FIR names former Ganganagar MP Nihal Chand,Jogeswar Garg,a minister in an earlier BJP government,DSP Anil Rao,inspector Mahavir, former students union president Pushpendra Bharadwaj, her brother-in-law Radheshyam Godara and 11 others.
