Doc told to pay Rs 1 lakh for removing testes

The Bihar State Human Rights Commission has ordered a doctor to pay Rs 1 lakh compensation to a man for negligence and removing his testes during a surgery

The Bihar State Human Rights Commission has ordered a doctor to pay Rs 1 lakh compensation to a man for negligence and removing his testes during a surgery. Panel chairman Justice (retd) S N Jha said,The doctor has deprived the mans right to procreate and have children which amounts to violation of his human rights and caused mental trauma to the applicant. The doctor has been asked to pay the compensation money within one month or face penalty.

Panel member Neelmani told The Indian Express,It is an important order and will serve as a deterrent for doctors who lack expertise in surgery and conduct tubectomy without consent of a patient.
