Digvijaya backs CBI probe against IB sleuth

CBI has been cornered over its decision to question a senior IB officer in Ishrat Jahan case

Cornered over its decision to question a senior IB officer for his alleged involvement in the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter, the CBI found support from senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh.

There is an allegation that some IB officers have done something wrong, along with Gujarat Police. If the CBI has evidence, they should be given the opportunity to prove it, Singh said after meeting with Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde.

Some time later,he tweeted,Is the IB officer against whom there is clinching evidence in a case investigated by CBI above law?

Singhs remarks come even as the CBI and the IB spar over the issue. The IB even complained to Prime Ministers Office, but has now, following the intervention of the home ministry, agreed to share the intelligence that led to the encounter. It was only after it refused to share the intelligence that the CBI had decided to name special director Rajendra Kumar as an accused.
