CBI asks Army,Navy if tower overlooks vital installations

CBI has been roped in by Ministry of Defence for looking into the Adarsh society scam.

The Central Bureau of Investigation CBI,which has been roped in by the Ministry of Defence for looking into the Adarsh society scam, has asked the Army and the Navy to submit papers about whether the 31-storey tower at Cuffe Parade overlooks vital defence installations.

A two-member CBI team from Mumbai, following a meeting at the CBI headquarters in Delhi, has asked the General Officer Commanding of Army and Navy to list out the sensitive installations that are in close proximity to the building. Since the height 8230; exceeds the permissible limit,we have asked them to furnish details on the ideal height and the other permissions that are required for construction of the building, a CBI official said.

He said a decision would soon be taken on whether to file a preliminary enquiry PE or a regular case RC against the society. So far the CBI has received reports pertaining to the society from the Navy,District Collector, state environment and urban development departments. Officers said an RC for formal investigation would be filed right away if the documents submitted to them are substantial and if not, they would go for a PE to verify the allegations first.
