Campaign duty

The other leaders who will be campaigning for more days are Rajnath Singh 12 days,Narendra Modi 10 days and Sushma Swaraj 9 days.

However, with the event being called off due to the shutdown, the visit has been postponed, making him the second Indian Armed Forces chief whose trip to the United States has been put off.

Earlier this month,Army Chief Gen Bikram Singhs visit to the US too was postponed due to the economic crisis.

One cardinal principle in TV news is never give credit to your rival channel unless you do it inadvertently. Which is exactly what happened earlier this month when NDTV Group Editor Barkha Dutt referred to Times Now on air to Army Chief Bikram Singh.

On the morning of October 8,the Army Chief spoke to Times Nows Arnab Goswami on the Keran operations over phone. Dutt,in Srinagar to cover the operations, called up the Army Chief after Times Now went on air with the interview. A technical glitch ensured that some of the pre-interview casual chit chat went live on NDTV.

Asked by the Army Chief what points she wanted to raise during the interview,Dutt replied: Basically, the same two things that you said to Times Now. Promptly, the live interview was cut and the anchor in the Delhi studio took over with news of the Army operations with a perfect, straight face.
