Hezbollah member named in Hariri case
BEIRUT: A UN-backed court indicted a senior Hezbollah member and three other suspects on Thursday in the 2005 assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri,an official said. The tribunal issued the indictments and arrest warrants on Thursday,and an official said one of the names is Mustafa Badreddine,who was Hezbollahs deputy military commander.
Turtles hold up flights on JFK runway
NEW YORK: Runway 4L at Kennedy International Airport was closed for over an hour on Wednesday morning,when a procession of about 100 diamondback terrapins were crossing it. Specialists removed the turtles soon after. Some flights were delayed for up to 30 minutes,officials said.
Hackers disrupt Qaedas network
New York: Computer hackers have disrupted al-Qaedas ability to communicate via internet by interrupting the flow of videos and messages of the outfit,an anti-terror expert said. The attack was reportedly carried out by unknown hackers in the past few days. Al-Qaedas online communications have been temporarily crippled,and it does not have a single trusted distribution channel available, Evan Kohlmann of Flashpoint Global Partners,which monitors the outfits communication,said. My guess is that it will take them several days more to repair the damage and get their network up and functioning again, he said.
Mehran attack had inside support
Islamabad: The terrorist attack on PNS Mehran airbase last month,in which 10 security personnel were killed and two maritime surveillance aircraft destroyed,was carried out with inside support,the Deputy Chief of the Pakistani navy and an Air Vice Marshal told the Standing Committee on Defence of the National Assembly. They said the information was based on the findings of an internal inquiry committee.
