NEW YORK: A former airline cargo worker has been sentenced to life in prison for plotting to blow up the John F Kennedy International Airport in New York by attacking fuel supplies. Russell Defreitas,67,was convicted on charges that included conspiracy to attack aircraft and aircraft materials,and conspiracy to destroy international airport facilities.
3 men stabbed at London tourist spot
LONDON: Police say three men were stabbed and 19 others arrested after a brawl broke out at Trafalgar Square,one of Londons main tourist destination. Metropolitan Police said Friday they believe the stabbings are linked and everyone inolved is of eastern European origin.

BOSTON: An Indian ex-employee of Bristol-Myers-Squibb,who admitted stealing trade secrets from the drug manufacturer for his planned business venture in India,was awarded a year in jail on Friday,a sentence he has already served. Shalin Jhaveri,30 is expected to be deported to India soon. US District Judge Norman Mordue sentenced Jhaveri to his time served in a New York jail.

BOSTON: At least six Indian-origin persons are among over 100 doctors and nurses arrested on charges of alleged involvement in a Medicare fraud estimated at 225 million. More than 700 agents from the FBI and the Department of Health and Human Services arrested the alleged swindlers in Brooklyn,Chicago,Dallas,Detroit,Houston,Los Angeles,Louisiana,Miami and Tampa.
Man in Afghan Army uniform kills soldier
KABUL: A German soldier was killed and at least eight others wounded Friday when a man wearing an Afghan National Army uniform fired at coalition troops working on a vehicle in northern Afghanistan,according to NATO and German military officials. At least eight people also were killed earlier Friday in a suicide bombing in Khost province.
