MP CM Chouhans helicopter loses way
SHIVPURI MP: The helicopter carrying Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to a village function lost its way due to a dust haze for nearly 55 minutes,officials said on Sunday. The helicopter took off from Shivpuri at 3.15 pm on Saturday evening and was supposed to reach Dulara village in 15 minutes. The haze was due to a dust storm in neighbouring Rajasthan. As a result,the Chief Minister reached a mass marriage function of the Dhamad community about 40 minutes late,officials said.
Mangalore runway to be lengthened
NEW DELHI: The runway of Mangalore airport,which saw a crash claiming 158 lives,will be increased from 8,000 ft to 9,000 ft for a larger spillover area,Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel has said,on CNN-IBN.
Four of family killed in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: Four members of a family,including a woman,were allegedly murdered by their son-in-law and his relatives on Sunday at Amberpet area here over a family dispute,police said. The condition of a 24-year-old woman,who was also attacked in the incident,was critical and was shifted to Osmania General Hospital,police said. One Jehangir and his relatives allegedly attacked the family of Qamaruddin with iron rods at their house in Premnagar of Amberpet area at about 6.30 am,resulting in the immediate death of Qamaruddin,his wife and two other family members,police said.
Student hangs self after failing boards
HARDWAR: A student of class 10 allegedly committed suicide after she failed to clear her board exams,police said on Sunday. Sheeba 15 was found hanging from the ceiling fan at her house in Roorkee by family members on Saturday evening. Her family told the police that she had gone to a nearby cyber cafe to see her results and was upset after her number was not in the list of successful candidates. Later in the evening,she bolted herself in her room and family members found her body hanging from the ceiling fan,the police added.
CRPF jawan shoots self in J-K
SRINAGAR: A CRPF constable allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in Ganderbal district of Central Kashmir on Sunday. Police said Satiyadan Meena,hailing from Gujalpora in Rajasthan and attached to 118 Battalion CRPF B-Company,shot himself dead in Gund camp,60 kms from here. A case has been registered,police said.
Co-pilot accused of rape in police custody
MUMBAI: A local court on Sunday remanded in police custody a co-pilot with Jet Airways arrested for allegedly raping an air-hostess on several occasions since May 2009 on the pretext of marrying her. Varun Agarwal 27 was arrested on Saturday from the domestic airport at suburban Vile Parle on charges of raping the 22-year-old air hostess who was in a live-in relationship with him. Varun was remanded in police custody till June 5. ENS amp; PTI
