Bulk SMS,MMS services banned
NEW DELHI: Anticipating the misuse of bulk SMS and MMS services before or after the September 24 court verdict in the Ayodhya land title suits,the Centre on Wednesday banned these services for the next 72 hours. The Ministry of Communications amp; Information Technology,in consultation with the Home Ministry,has issued orders to all mobile telecom service providers to ban all bulk SMS and all bulk MMS in all service areas with immediate effect.
Ktaka schools shut on Sept 24,25
BANGALORE: Karnataka on Wednesday announced a two-day holiday for all educational institutions on September 24 and 25 as a preventive measure. Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said his government had taken all preventive steps to ensure no untoward incident takes place in the state. The CM also said that he would hold a meeting of all political and religious leaders to seek their cooperation in maintaining communal harmony.
Cong MLAs,MPs to stay in constituencies
JAIPUR: Ahead of the verdict,the Congress has directed its MLAs and MPs,especially in UP,to stay in respective constituencies to ensure communal harmony,party general secretary Digvijaya Singh said. The Mayawati government,Singh said,has taken precautionary measures to ensure law and order in Ayodhya and other parts of UP,which is appreciable.
No peace marches in UP till verdict
LUCKNOW: Ahead of the Ayodhya title suits verdict,Uttar Pradesh has cancelled all requests for taking out peace marches in the state.On the directions of the government,permissions to take out peace marches have been cancelled till further orders,Additional District Magistrate O P Pathak said. Permission given earlier to hold such marches also stands cancelled. Several social organisations had proposed to take out peace marches on Wednesday.
