Major train mishap averted in Bengal
KOLKATA: Two days after the Kalka Mail derailment in Uttar Pradesh,another train disaster was averted on Tuesday morning in West Bengal when the alert driver of a train spotted another train on the same track and applied the brakes. While the Bandel-Katwa EMU local was entering Balagarh station in Hooghly district,Sealdah-bound Hatey Bazare Express also entered the same track,a railway spokesperson said. However,the driver of the Hatey Bazare Express ignored the green signal and stopped the train,averting a collision.
Kerala temple: Hindu outfits seek to implead in SC
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Making the unearthing of treasure trove from the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple a rallying point,a meeting of various Hindu organisations on Tuesday decided to implead in the review petition pending in the Supreme Court. The meeting was convened by Kerala Hindu Aikya Vedi KHAV to chart out a future plan to drive home the argument that the wealth found in the temple vaults belonged to the temple itself,not the public property accrued over centuries.
