The Jamp;K Police claimed to have killed three top Lashkar militants after a night-long encounter in North Kashmirs Handwara area. Among the slain militants,one was operating as divisional commander.
The police and the Army launched an operation in Rajpura village of Handwara on Monday evening.
When the forces asked the militants to surrender,they opened fire on the troops resulting into an encounter that continued through the night. On Tuesday morning,the police recovered three bodies from the debris of the house. The police said the three slain militants were Pakistani nationals and identified them as Abu Waqas,Qari Numan and Ubaid.
The slain militants were active in the area for the past some time, the SP of Handwara said.
