A 19-year-old man was stabbed in the neck during an altercation after he was unable to repay a Rs 2,000 loan in Northwest Delhi’s Rohini on Saturday afternoon, police said. Two persons have been arrested, officers added.

According to the police, a PCR call was received around 1:55 pm on Saturday, reporting that a person had been stabbed in the neck. A police team rushed to the spot but found that the victim had already been shifted to Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital by PCR staff.

At the hospital, the victim was identified as Kuldeep, a painter by profession, who had sustained a stab injury on the right side of his neck and was undergoing treatment. He was later taken to the operation theatre for surgery, said police.

During inspection of the scene, police found bloodstains on the road, following which a crime team and an FSL team were called to examine the spot and collect evidence.

Preliminary inquiry revealed that the incident took place following a quarrel between Kuldeep and the main accused, later identified as Ratan, over the repayment of a loan amount of Rs 2,000. During the argument, Ratan allegedly attacked Kuldeep with a knife. Police said Ratan was accompanied by his friend, Shyam, who had allegedly come to support him during the confrontation.

Police further said that another person, Aditya, who attempted to intervene and pacify the situation, sustained a minor injury between the thumb and index finger of his right hand.

Based on the statement of the injured, an FIR under sections 109(1) (attempted murder) and 3(5) (common intent) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered at Begumpur police station, and an investigation was initiated.
