It8217;s that time of the year again when the weather8217;s taking a turn and you can smell autumn in the air. It8217;s around this time that designers and boutique owners kind of hit overdrive putting their collections in order, preferably before Diwali. Among them is the mother-daughter duo of Archana and Karishma with their all-new label 8216;Elements8217;. Working out of their studio and workshop in Industrial Area8217;s Phase 1 Plot no 41, the two are warming up pretty well. 8220;Our USP is customisation to the T,8221; Karishma is the first to speak. While the daughter spearheads the Western ensemble department, mom Archana is a Pro with traditional weaves, crafts and sarees. 8220;I am originally from Lucknow and sport a lot of sarees. The last many years have seen me put together sarees from my own set of crafts persons for my friends. It8217;s only when Karishma joined me that we decided to open Elements,8221; explains Archana.

Their Autumn-Winter collection is all about the use of warm, woollen fabrics. 8220;We are also making woollen mix Pashmina sarees that drape really well,8221; tells Archana as we eye a somber grey one highlighted with applique work. The woollen fabric also runs into kurtis, ponchos and suits. 8220;We are looking to revive traditional weaves and work. In fact, we have our own karigars in the studio where clients can come and personally spell out the look they want,8221; chorus the two. Also noticeable among the collection is Kolkata8217;s Shibori work on sarees and stoles apart from suits that run into warm colours. Then there are Lucknowi chikan churidaars and salwars on the shelves too. The mother-daughter duo have also dipped their hands into home furnishings having designed bedspreads, quilts and even lamps.
