PUNE, Dec 2: Vikas Pathare of Krida Prabhodini High School bagged the first gold medal of his career when he took top spot in the under-14 long jump finals, at 4.32 metres at the Poona sub-junior athletic meet at Balewadi here today.
In his initial effort Vikas, the sixth standard student from Krida Prabodhini, cleared a distance of 4.10 metres, before he bettered it to 4.32 metres for the top spot in the sixth and final attempt. He was followed by schoolmate Vaibhav Patil who finished a close second.
Meanwhile, in the girls U-12 age group section high jump event, it was Vaishali Yadhav from the same school who took the top honours.
