CALCUTTA, November 25: The West Bengal Assembly today unanimously adopted a motion under rule 185 moved by the Government chief whip Rabin Mondal condemning the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s renewed efforts to build the temple on the disputed Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid structure.

The motion, which was adopted unanimously by all the parties in the Assembly, gave clear hints that the Bharatiya Janata Party would be the sole enemy in the wake of an election. The motion urged the Centre to take note of this bid by VHP “to create communal tension on issue of the proposed karseva on December 14.’ Basu, who launched a vitriolic attack on the BJP, said the Congress had “given in” to BJP designs. He said that the Congress should realise that secular forces were not strong everywhere to face the `challenge of the communalists.
