Check First, Bill Later
The Parliamentary Committee on Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, headed by Congress MP Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka, had to tweak the agenda for an upcoming meeting on December 29. The committee was planning to discuss and compare the VB-G RAM G Bill, 2025 with MGNREGA during the meeting, but BJP MP Vivek Thakur on Sunday wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla that a comparison cannot be done until the implementation of the new Bill, said sources. It has now been decided that the agenda will only include a discussion on MGNREGA and not be a comparison between the UPA and the NDA Bills.
