Court settles claims cases
Thirty-three cases related to motor accident claims were settled at the 214th Lok Adalat held in the premises of the Nyay Mandir here on Sunday, according to Baroda Bar Association president Narendra Tiwari. He said that as many as 98 cases had come up before the reconciliation boards but parties turned up only in 45 cases. However, only 33 cases could be solved because parties did not agree in remaining cases. The lok adalat was inaugurated by Additional District Judge R M Parmar, while a total Rs 37.38 lakh was paid as compensation.

BHS jubilee
The Baroda High School, Alkapuri celebrated its silver jubilee on Saturday. Besides a dance on the song Vande Mataram8217; choreographed by Pandit Jagdish Gangani, the other attractions of the programme included a Tarana8217;, Rajasthani ghummar8217;, Adivasi dance and Tandav Nritya8217;. Among others, Kathak dance exponent Padmashree Damyanti Joshi, Chairman Ecology Commission Hasmukh Shah and Chairman of GEB Nalin Bhatt were present. Joshi released the school profile on the occasion.

Office-bearers
Dr J R Kamath and Dr Chetan N Patel of Vadodara have been elected as the vice-president and joint secretary of the State branch of the Indian Medical Association for 1998-99. According to an IMA statement on Sunday, Kamath had served as the association secretary and president in the past, while Patel, a skin specialist, also held the post of the secretary.

Gita Samaroh
A samapana samaroh will be held on Tuesday as part of Gita Jayanti. The samaroh, to be attended by Swami Nischalananda Saraswati Puri, Sri Mathureshwara Mahodaya Srimad Vallabhacharya Surat Pitha, will be held at the D N Hall, M S University.
