
Teachers give memo to DEO
General secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party Scheduled Caste/Tribe Cell Jivraj Chauhan and a few teachers of the Baroda High School, ONGC, submitted a memorandum to District Education Officer V Nanavati on Thursday seeking action against principal N Teradesai. They alleged that though they had been on leave, they had been marked absent in the muster. They also submitted a memorandum to the school trustees.
Boys cremated
The six boys whose bodies were recovered from the Kansanagar lake in Surat on Wednesday were cremated at night, while the seventh boy, who had also been feared drowned, returned home.
SEO notice
The State Election Office has asked all the district collectors to be strict about the leave their employees wanted in view of the forthcoming Parliamentary elections. In a faxed message, it asked all collectors to ensure there was no political colour to Independence Day celebrations.
Ajwa fountains
The coloured fountains at the Ajwa Gardens will be operated between 6.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. on Friday, the last day of the Gauri vrat festival. Usually the fountains operate only between Saturdays and Monday.
