
LUDHIANA, JAN 20: A high-powered delegation of six eminent scientists from Ohio State University, USA visited the Punjab Agricultural University here today. Addressing the delegation, Vice-Chancellor Gurcharan Singh Kalkat said:8220; In the initial stages of establishment and development of PAU, we had good collaboration with Ohio State University which helped us in upgradation of the faculty and to usher in the Green Revolution.8221;
Kalkat further suggested that for another jump in agricultural production, similar help and collaboration from the Ohio State University was needed. To solve the emerging problems in agriculture, the V-C disclosed that some scientists in selected areas, will be deputed from PAU to get training and technology from Ohio State University.
Some of the prominent scientists who were trained at Ohio State University also attended the meeting and interacted with the visiting scientists. These include B.S.Paul, H.R.Kalia, D.R.Bhumbla, R.S.Kanwar, Hardial Singh Gill, S.S.Prihar, D. S.Sidhu, Mehar Singh, Malwinder Singh, Gurdial Singh Gill, Jagdev Singh Dhaliwal, Kharak Singh Mann, D.S.Dev, Sumita Roy.
The delegation also visited the laboratory of Department of Plant Breeding, PAU farms as well as the farm of Rattan Singh in Jugiana village.
