Ability Unlimited, a Delhi-based group of challenged individuals will showcase the triumph of mind over disability through its plays and dance performances in Pune this month

Neither the starting nor the end point of success can be defined. But every performance that the members of the group- Ability Unlimited present, redefines success and achievement. As a part of the continued celebrations of International Day of Disabled People- December 3, the members of this Delhi based group of physically challenged people will be presenting various dance forms, plays and cultural activities at Ganesh Kala Krida Manch at 3 pm on December 7.

The programme has been organised by Bal Kalyan Sanstha, Pune. According to Minetta Paatil, manager, Balkalyan Sanstha, 8220;We at Balkalyan Sanstha have been associated with challenged children since beginning. This is the first time that Ability Unlimited, a group from Delhi is performing in the city. The major motive behind organising the performance is to inspire our children to achieve the heights that the members of Ability Unlimited have achieved.8221;

Established by Sayyad Sallauddin Pasha, Ability Unlimited is the first group in India to have given practical and professional training in drama and dance to physically challenged individuals. With a perfect amalgamation of existing trends and the transformations in the field of performing arts, this group has imparted strength to the otherwise weak and neglected section of the society. According to Pasha, 8220;The major challenge with physically disabled people is the confidence. At Ability Unlimited, we teach them to have a positive approach towards life. It is here that they understand that it is the ability to overcome the disability that gives them confidence. And what makes them better performers is the inner strength gained.8221;

The group on the occasion will be presenting a 90-minute non-stop performance that includes dramatic presentation of Ramayan, Mahabharat, Martial Arts and so on. The performers between the age limits five to 35 include physically challenged individuals such as visually and mentally challenged ones and also some who are wheelchair bound and so on. 8220;This is our interpretation of these epics. We will be presenting Ramayan and Mahabharat on wheelchair. Other than the fantastic performances by these members what also needs to be watched out for is the coordination with which they have put up the show. Coming from varied financial and socio-cultural backgrounds, concurring the disability, these performers have carved a niche for themselves in the field of performing arts,8221; adds Pasha.

Appreciated by the President, Prime Minister and former President APJ Abdul Kalam, the members of Ability Unlimited are an epitome of how zest, determination and willpower amalgamated with efforts can conquer even nature.
