Stuck in the cans for a long, long time, this film finally makes it to the theatres. What with a storyline running perilously close to the underworld flicks of the late 8217;80s and early 8217;90s, and Pooja Bhatt trying hard to slip into Urmila8217;s skimpy clothes, Kabhi Na Kabhi seems like an effort to recycle a saleable formula long forgotten.

The setting is the big bad world of Mumbai8217;s slums 8212; narcotics don, Kachara Seth8217;s Paresh Rawal empire. A young ? dare-devil Jaggu Jackie Shroff is Kachara Seth8217;s righthand man. He8217;s close to Tina Pooja Bhatt, who, apart from singing and dancing all over town and playing rugby with the Bombay Gymkhana boys, also runs a dyeing factory along with her aunt.Now for the twist 8212; if you can call it that. Jaggu8217;s mom is hospitalised for an emergency operation and he has to undertake an important drug assignment to fund it. But he isarrested and naturally his family is ruined.

Kachara Seth replaces Jaggu with young he too? and dynamic Raja Anil Kapoor who, incidentally, also loves Tina. It8217;s time for Jaggu to get out of jail and kill the man who was instrumental in getting him behind bars. Clever Kachara conspires to play Raja and Jaggu against each other.

Tina gets the two men together and they become close friends. And the regular filmi love triangle follows. Kachara Seth takes advantage of the love-struck trio and starts casting his net. Meanwhile, Raja makes a shocking discovery about Jaggu. But it won8217;t be long before the maze or conspiracy, revenge, raving and ranting is untangled, one of the heroes dies and the other walks away with the girl as usual.

Chhota Chetan

This 1984 3-D hit is back in a revised and upgraded avatar. More than half the film has actually been re-shot and glamour has been liberally sprinkled onin the fulsome form of Urmila. Bollywood stars Shakti Kapoor and Satish Kaushik complete the picture. Director Jijo has done an excellent job of merging the old with the new, without making the film look patchy.

The story revolves around Chetan, the spirit who fulfils the dreams of three kids 8212; Laxmi, Raju and Chintu Sonia, Suresh and Mukesh 8212; and the evil Tantrik Kottarakkara, who is after the treasure buried in the haunted Thrikal Bhavan.

Raja Ravi Baswani and Rajkumar Harish are also after the treasure and bring in a computer astrologer, Professor Chashmish Satish Kaushik and Baba Khondol Shakti Kapoor but the Tantrik unleashes the spirit on both. They all want the precious spirit at their command so that they can access the treasure. Enter stage magician, Hawa Hawai 8212; who8217;s also after Chetan because it was responsible for her father, Grand Tantrik8217;s Harish Trivedi death.

Hawa Hawai gets transformed into a cat by the evil Tantrik. But the three kids, along with Raja and Rajkumarrestore her to a human form. Chetan gets rid of the Tantrik, but in the process he gets transformed into a fox-bat. Miss Hawa Hawai takes off with the spirit and promises that she8217;ll transform him into his true magical self someday. A must-see for children and adults. Chhota Chetan has thrills and chills to offer.

Dand-nayak

Vishal Choudhary Naseeruddin Shah is dand-nayak 8212; he arrests every criminal in sight and gets them punished by law. He8217;s invited to try his hand in Bhayaji8217;s Paresh Rawal modelling himself after Laloo Prasad Yadav ilaka where a flourishing underworld empire thrives. The don is shaken by Vishal8217;s arrival because he was arrested and punished by dand-nayak when he was a mere tabela owner. Bhayaji8217;s son, Suraj Manik Bedi studies in a college in Nashik and has a notorious reputation 8212; in keeping with the family tradition.His childhood friend Karan Inder Kumar also contributes to his friend8217;s misdeeds. Naturally, he is upset when Naina Ayesha Jhulka slaps Suraj, and consequently loses her virginity. Howzzat? Naina falsely accuses Suraj of raping her in a running train and dand-nayak who8217;s chasing another criminal, arrests Suraj.
