BARODA, APRIL 9: Three persons arrested from Petlad town in the neighbouring Anand district in connection with circulation of fake notes have been remanded to police custody till April 15.

Raju Patel, Masurkhan Pathan and Mohammed Radhanpuri were remanded by the local court here on Saturday, police said. Pradyuman Patel, an engineer arrested in the same case, is already in police remand. So far, 68 counterfeit notes of Rs 100 denomination have been recovered from the arrested, police said.

The four had procured bundles of fakes notes totalling Rs three lakh from one Ayubkhan Pathan, a bootlegger from Nadiad who is at large, they said. Police are yet to recover a large number of fake notes which are in circulation. The accused told police during interrogation that some fake notes were in circulation in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh as well. Police are inquiring whether Ayubkhan has any links with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence agency.
