PUNE, Dec 30: The Consortium for Educational Communication CEC is organising a three-day festival on environment, development and human rights in the city from January 21 onwards.

The festival titled Prakriti 8217;98,8217; is being organised in association with Educational Media Research Centre EMRC, University of Pune and the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics IUCAA, Pune.

The festival will be inaugurated by noted film director Shyam Benegal. His latest film Samar on Dalit empowerment on Sankranti will be screened as the opening film of the festival. More than twenty films will be screened at IUCAA auditorium during the festival.

CEC has now planned to continue the Prakriti8217; festival, started last year, as an annaul event that congregates film makers, students, academics administrators, development workers and media.

CEC is an inter-university centre set up by University Grants Commission with the responsibility of utilising electronic media in education. It is the apex institution for the countrywide classroom television. Its function is to coordinate and monitor the production of educational television programmes and development of studios at the various media centres.
