PUNE, Sept 24: The Vishrambaug police have arrested three persons from Kondhawa, two of them women, on charges of duping moneylenders under the garb of taking loans.

Preliminary investigations have indicated involvement of Sayyed Kadar Sayyed Bashir, Hassina Bano Talib Sayyed and Tamijbi Amirkhan Pathan in cheating at least three moneylenders by securing loans after mortgaging imitation gold ornaments. The fraud came to light when Jitendra Giridharilal Ghodke from the Sadashiv Peth-based Ghodke Saraf shop suspected that the neckalce mortgaged by the trio to obtain an amount of Rs 8,900 was an imitation gold jewelry.

On cross checking, Ghodke realised that the necklace was made of silver and lodged a First Information Report FIR with the Vishrambaug police on Sunday. The trio was arrested on the basis of the complaint on the same day. Taking a cue from Ghodke, two other money lenders 8211; Vinod K Ranka from Nana Peth and Mohinibai P Oswal from Bhavani peth 8211; today lodged separate complaints with the Samartha police.
