In what may be called a bid to tie up with the saffron brigade to carve out a third front, Bharatiya Janashakti Party supremo Uma Bharati held discussions with a host of small and big RSS and VHP leaders along with prominent saints of Saurashtra during her two-day visit to the region. Bharati has of late been showing willingness to support the BJP, if it drops Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, and the saffron bandwagon, too, is giving this former BJP MP a hearing.
“Our anti-Modi stand should not become an advantage for the Congress. I am trying to form a third force to keep the Congress away. I would be ready to support the BJP, provided it keeps Modi out,” she said here on Saturday.
