Theft at Kitchlu Nagar house

Some unidentified thieves decamped with cash, jewellery and other costly goods from a locked house in Kitchlu Nagar on Friday. The theft came to light in the afternoon.

Some unidentified thieves decamped with cash, jewellery and other costly goods from a locked house in Kitchlu Nagar on Friday. The theft came to light in the afternoon.

The house belogs to Dr Ajay Chhabra, a professor at Baba Jaswant Singh Dental College and Hospital. Giving the information, Dr Chhabra8217;s father R.D. Chhabra, a senior advocate, said, 8220;The theft came to our notice this afternoon when a neighbourer called us up to inform that the locks of the house had been broken open.8221;

Advocate Chhabra said that while his son has his house in the 8216;D8217; block of Kitchlu Nagar where the theft took place, he himself lives in Tagore Nagar. He said his son, Dr Chhabra has a dental clinic in their Tagore Nagar house where he sees the patients after his duty hours at Baba Jaswant Singh Dental College.

8220;My daughter-in-law Vandana Dr Chhabra8217;s wife has gone out of station for her higher studies and my son stays with us in Tagore Nagar. The upper portion of my son8217;s house in Kitchlu Nagar has been rented out. Today at about 3.30 pm, our tenant called up to inform about the broken locks of the house,8221; advocate Chhabra said.

He said that when they reached the house, they found it completely ransacked. He said besides Rs 30,000 in cash, some gold jewellery and a costly video handicam were missing from the house. 8220;But the exact loss will be ascertained when my daughter-in-law comes back. We have informed her about the theft and she is coming back here soon,8221; Chhabra added.

After receiving the information, the Division number 8 SHO Ravinder Singh reached the spot to investigate the matter. A team of finger prints experts and a dog squad were also pressed into service to investigate the theft. Later, the area DSP Varinder Singh Brar also reached the spot to take stock of the investigations.
