Gouru Venkat Reddy was convicted in the murder of Epuru Ramasubbaiah in October 2005 and was awarded life imprisonment by a Kurnool court. Ramasubbaiah, a TDP worker, and Tirupathi Reddy, were allegedly killed in retaliation for the murder of a Congress worker. The High Court upheld the life term, but the Supreme Court later brought it down to 10 years. Meanwhile, in 2004, his wife Gouru Charita was elected the MLA from Nandikotkur constituency in Kurnool. Before Charita took over as MLA, the constituency was in TDP hands, with Byreddy Rajsekhar Reddy and his wife successively holding on to power. After then governor Sushil Kumar Shinde pardoned Reddy on humanitarian grounds, a PIL was filed in the Supreme Court by Epuru Sudhakar, Ramasubbaiah8217;s son and P Raghurami Reddy, Tirupathi Reddy8217;s son. Last year, Sudhakar8217;s grocery shop was ransacked by alleged Congress supporters, who asked him to withdraw the PIL. Speaking to The Indian Express over phone, Venkat Reddy said: 8220;I have not yet decided what to do. I will wait for the Supreme Court order to come, and then decide.8221;
