The latest talk doing the rounds in the university is the ongoing exams and the recent global meltdown.
Exam fever seems to have gripped the campus, but this year the anxiety level is at its peak since the job market now is in a bad state because of the economic crisis.
Every year it is a mixed feeling when the academic session comes to an end but this year the fear of recession has made many lose hope.
Though recession would not affect my profession as much but if we look around, almost everyone is affected by it to some extent.
The meltdown has really created a dent and unfortunately, we have become the sufferers. It has actually hit our economy in a big way and has left many of us with no careers at all. I believe that at this particular time, it is our government that should pitch in and comfort individuals.
I believe that holding seminars and workshops would help us through this phase since we need to be told that what is required to be done.
Issues relating to the present job scenario is haunting most of the students at the campus.
Meanwhile, the worst hit are the departments where almost all students usually get placed through campus placements. The scenario has entirely changed now with most of the companies not turning up or those who have have issued joining letters with unconfirmed dates.
I believe that immediate steps are required in this regard and the students need to be guided about their future. The university should take up the responsibility of guiding students through this phase and towards a better future.
The IT as well as the finance sectors are also badly hit and students in these fields require immediate guidance.
The recession has raised several issues as students besides coping with own tensions now also have to answer their parents8217; worries. I believe that charity begins at home; therefore the university needs to pitch in.
